How to use the Volunteer Convertibility Calculator

The Calculator was developed based on the findings of a nationally representative survey of Australian volunteers and non-volunteers, funded by the Australian Research Council. It is intended to be used as a tool to complement the current recruitment practices of Australian volunteer-involving organisations. It calculates the propensity to volunteer (% likelihood of conversion) of people who do not currently volunteer and have not done so in the recent past.
As input to the Calculator, potential volunteers must answer the following questions:

1. Please indicate your level of agreement with the following statement: “I have all that is required to be a volunteer”.

Strongly agree / Agree / Neutral / Disagree / Strongly disagree

2. Please rate the importance you place on the following values:

a. Stimulation (daring, a varied and challenging life, an exciting life).

Very important / Important / Neither important nor unimportant / Unimportant / Very unimportant

b. Benevolence (helpfulness, honesty, forgiveness, loyalty, responsibility).

Very important / Important / Neither important nor unimportant / Unimportant / Very unimportant

3. Please respond 'Yes' or 'No' to the following statement: "In the last 4 weeks, I did not help or support anyone beyond my immediate family".

Yes / No

We suggest you input all responses from your potential volunteer into the Calculator to get their percentage likelihood of conversion to volunteering.
